Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service. Servicing the communities of Cape York, with the main office is located in Cairns, Apunipima delivers public health care, and social and emotional well-being care, to community members. Being a part of the team at Apunipima means helping us deliver essential services as well as building capacity in communities to manage their own health care needs.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Travel Officer to join our team based in Cairns. This is a permanent full-time position as part of a small team.

About the Opportunity

  • Coordinate travel, accommodation, vehicle bookings and related logistics for staff across Cape York communities. 
  • Provide high-quality customer service and travel support to employees, managers and key stakeholders. 
  • Manage travel bookings, databases, invoices, allowances and reporting while ensuring compliance with organisational policies. 
  • Work in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, supporting operational activities, community events and emergency response logistics. 
  • Be part of a collaborative team committed to improving health outcomes for Cape York communities through effective service delivery.

We’re looking for someone who is organised, detail-oriented, and enjoys helping others. Experience in travel coordination or administration is highly regarded, along with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and stay on top of changing priorities. If you love planning, problem-solving, and ensuring people get where they need to be smoothly and efficiently, we’d love to hear from you.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You:

  • Experience coordinating travel bookings, logistics, administration or a similar function with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines. 
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications and business or finance systems. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with a customer-focused approach. 
  • A strong understanding of, and commitment to, working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. 
  • A proactive team player who uses initiative, demonstrates sound judgement and contributes to continuous improvement.
